Food Pantry Volunteer

The Food Pantry began as a community service project, envisioned by youth to address the need of families in our community. This service project continued and now has the capacity to serve over 1300 families per month, providing year-round food assistance. The food pantry gives our youth a chance to be held accountable, develop empathy and self-esteem and give back to the community.

Duties: Stock and organize shelves in pantry. Help prepare food boxes and give them out to the community. Cleaning up trash in and around food pantry. Some heavy lifting and bending involved.

Court ordered community service/volunteer hours are not accepted for this particular Volunteer opportunity.

This Food Pantry is an affiliate of the Atlanta Community Food Bank and is posting volunteer opportunities as part of a collaborative partnership between Hands On Atlanta and The Atlanta Community Food Bank. Through this partnership, Hands On Atlanta is providing training and support to nine affiliate food pantries to increase their capacity to recruit, manage and retain volunteers, with the ultimate goal of strengthening services provided to families and individuals at risk of hunger.
